Why Victoria driveways turn green
Between October and April, the capital region gets most of its rain. Concrete stays damp for weeks at a time, especially on north-facing driveways and anywhere shaded by trees or the house. That's perfect ground for moss, black algae and lichen.
It starts in the control joints and along the edges, then spreads across the slab as a dark film. Left alone, it gets slippery underfoot, holds more moisture against the concrete, and makes the whole front of the house look tired.
A proper pressure wash strips all of that back to clean concrete in an afternoon. Most people are surprised what colour their driveway actually is.

Driveway cleaning: common questions
How often should a driveway be pressure washed in Victoria?
Most driveways here look best cleaned once a year, usually in fall before the rains or in spring after them. Shaded driveways under cedars or firs may need it more often.
Can you remove oil stains?
Fresh oil and tire marks usually come up well. Old stains that have soaked deep into the concrete can often be lightened but not always fully removed. I'll tell you honestly what to expect when I quote.
Is pressure washing safe for exposed aggregate?
Yes, with the right technique. Exposed aggregate is common in Victoria, and I keep pressure and distance controlled so the stones stay put while the grime between them comes out.
Do I need to move my car?
Yes, please park on the street or in the garage for the day of the clean so I can do the whole surface evenly.
